PRP (platelet-rich plasma) for improved wound healing and collagen formation – applied directly after the CO₂ laser treatment of the face. Thanks to the prior laser penetration of the skin, topical uptake is shown by studies to be equivalent to injection.
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. We draw a small amount of your own blood, centrifuge it and isolate the plasma fraction with a high concentration of platelets. These platelets carry your body's own growth factors, which stimulate wound healing, cell renewal and collagen formation.

Is the treatment painful?
Comfort is an essential part of the treatment. Depending on intensity we combine numbing cream and local infiltration anaesthesia. The active laser pass is briefly noticeable but subsides quickly.
Why is downtime necessary?
The fractional CO₂ laser creates targeted microscopic thermal zones in the skin. The barrier is deliberately disrupted so the regeneration and collagen cascade is triggered. Redness, swelling, crusting and flaking are part of the healing process – and part of the result.
When can I wear make-up again?
Only after complete re-epithelialisation – usually 5 to 10 days. Early make-up increases the risk of infection, delayed healing and pigment disorders. You will receive a clear written schedule.
Why do I need vaseline afterwards?
In the first days the skin loses significantly more moisture because the barrier is temporarily disrupted. Occlusive vaseline-based wound care keeps the surface moist, protects the new epithelium and reduces the risk of heavy crusting and scarring.
Why is herpes prophylaxis recommended?
Patients with a history of herpes simplex – especially when treating the lips or the perioral area – receive antiviral prophylaxis. The laser stimulus can promote reactivation during healing; prophylaxis significantly reduces this risk.
Can hyaluronic acid be combined?
Fillers are only used after complete healing – typically several weeks after the CO₂ treatment. Sequence and timing are planned individually.
When will I see results?
First improvements in texture and radiance are visible within a few weeks. Collagen remodelling then continues for 3 to 6 months – with progressive tightening and refinement.
